There is an excellent way to tell if your energy savings are as good as those in your community. Residents in the Rodenhiser service areas of Massachusetts can now go to an online tool offered by Energy Star and find out if they are getting more or less "bang for the buck" from their energy dollars.
The site is free, there's no obligation and it is totally anonymous. You can enter annual costs for gas, oil or electricity along with the square footage size of your home and find out how well you rate in energy savings compared to others in your community.
The yardstick measurement gives an indication of how your home's energy savings and efficiency compares to others in similar homes. A 10 is the best possible score and a 1 is the lowest. Those in the upper part of the scale can be quite proud. You are getting a better home comfort value for each dollar spent. Those in the lower scale may want to investigate how they can reduce their energy expenses.
If your score falls below the average of 5, you may want to assess how you can begin to save more on energy. When it comes to your energy savings, Rodenhiser is always happy to answer questions or give you an assessment of what you are doing right and what you might improve to cut your energy costs. An online tool is a first step, but nothing can beat an expert set of eyes.
Get your score and see how your home measures up. If your energy savings are not what you would like, contact Rodenhiser. Our experienced technicians can partner with you and offer suggestions to help raise your comfort level and reduce your costs.
