All furnaces produce carbon monoxide, an odorless but deadly gas. However, a clean, efficiently burning furnace with proper venting produces less and it escapes to the outdoor environment. Dust, dirt, and corrosion can build-up causing improper burning, leading to inefficiency and safety hazards.
In addition to dusting and cleaning your system, Rodenhiser inspects the vents to be sure they are drafting properly. Rodenhiser will check all the electric, gas or oil connections to see that they are tight; test the motors; check your thermostat and system start-up; lubricate moving parts if necessary, and visually inspect the burner and heat exchanger. Dirty burners or a cracked heat exchanger are not only inefficient, but can be a safety hazard.
Get the peace of mind that comes with knowing your system is operating safely and as efficiently as it should. Rodenhiser always recommends that everyone have a heating tune up once a year. It can increase the efficiency of your furnace by a significant percentage and will be well worth it--lowering utility bills, extending the life of your equipment, improving reliability and giving you peace of mind.
Whether your furnace is old or new, a heating tune up is important. Let us know if you have any questions. The Air Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI) website also has more information you may find helpful.
